Spring Bouquets 2018 Thank You

Pershing Field Garden Friends™ (PFGF) celebrated the first weekend of spring on Friday night at the new La Unica Bakery and Cafe on Central Ave for its annual Fundraiser, Spring Bouquets – an evening of poetry, prose and song to benefit the gardens at Pershing Field. We thank the proprietors of La Unica, Eric and Jason for providing a warm & inviting venue and tasty treats and beverages.

We kicked off the fourth year of our popular Solstice Series, emceed by PFGF™’s very own Mauro Altamura. Again, he was instrumental in connecting us to talented writers and the rich musical talent right here in our neighborhood. Ananda Lima and Sanjay Agnihotri shared their powerful poetry and prose…insightful, sensitive and often times amusing. The talented musician Addie Mahmassani rounded out the night in song featuring her original, soulful creations and a few Bob Dylan & Joni Mitchell favorites. She was accompanied on trumpet by her good friend Max. What a duo!

We were pleased to announce the new Pershing Field Garden Friends officers: Debby DeVenezia, president; Jill Koprowski, vice president, Josephine Sita, treasurer and Diane Brown, secretary and board members Laura Skolar and Tim Keating.

Thanks to our sponsors, attorney and neighbor Eugene O’Connell and Cara Development for their continued support. We are grateful for Susan Newman from Susan Newman Design Inc. and Remco Press for creating our promotional materials, Jeff Kaplowitz of Liberty Realty for donating the door prize, and Central Ave Liquors for donating the wine. Most importantly, we thank our community for their unwavering support.

Mark your calendars for our other Solstice Series summer and fall events: Friday, June 22nd and Friday, September 21st – a guaranteed fun night for a good cause.
